Welcome to Monteith’s Mountain Den, nestled on the side of beautiful Mount Buninyong. We are fortunate to experience mornings where we are often either in or above the clouds, with stunning views overlooking neighbouring Mount Warrenheip. There will be days when you will see glistening sunrises or silent snow gently falling, the Mount is unpredictable and we love her all the more for it.
Our Mountain Den accommodation is perfect for a weekend away for two or to share with family or friends. We have a fully stocked kitchen with all the gadgets you need to create a masterpiece or take a step outside and fire up the webber for a more relaxed time.
During your stay immerse yourself in the rustic elegance of 'The Den,' a charming milking shed transformed into a cosy retreat. Surround yourself with the warmth of natural sheepskins and cowhides, or relax on the custom-made window seat while gazing out at the spectacular, uninterrupted view of Mt Warrenheip. Whether you're striking a match to the laid fire, enjoying a good book or preparing for your Wedding day, The Den offers a beautiful and adaptable haven with a touch of nostalgia and comfort.

OUR SPACE
Our Mountain Den has three bedrooms, each with plush queen beds, goose down quilts and duck down pillows.
The main bedroom has an ensuite and the other two bedrooms share a second bathroom.
All bedrooms have wall heaters, ceiling fans and electric blankets to keep you very comfortable.
The sitting room has a wood heater for those cosy winter evenings to curl up with a good book and a reverse cycle for those warmer months.
We have plenty of room outside in our landscaped gardens for a toasted marshmallow around the fire pit or a bbq, or maybe a picnic in the paddock looking out to the beautiful Mt Warrenheip with a visit from our friendly sheep who are partial to a scotch finger biscuit.

This is the perfect place to update your Ugg Boots! We have a special deal with The Skin Inn in Ballan and will have your Ugg Boots and whatever else you are tempted to buy waiting for you on your arrival.
Grazing Board
A grazing board can be arranged from The Shared Table with a delicious selection of cheeses and other delicacies.
Housekeeping
Extra housekeeping can be arranged during your stay.
Ballark Grass Fed Lamb
We produce grass fed heritage bred lamb on the rolling hills of Morrisons. Chops, shanks, a leg or shoulder can be pre-ordered and waiting for you for your bbq.
Catering
Feel like having a bit of a dinner party while you are here but don't want to do the work or leave our place? We work with The Shared Table and with 48hrs notice can have everything waiting for you on your arrival.

THINGS TO DO
Mt Buninyong
Walk or ride up the Mount to the Summit or around the crater. It’s a beautiful walk with lots of birds and wallabies to greet you. You can also walk into the township of Buninyong through the Union Jack forest.
The Shared Table in Buninyong
This place is kicking goals with their delicious food and inventive menu that changes every month with the seasons and what is available locally.
Art Gallery of Ballarat
A 15min drive into town is the Gallery, one of the best in the country and home to over 10,000 works, plus excellent exhibitions and workshops
Sovereign Hill
There is always something happening here, Christmas in July, Sound and Light Show, just to name a few.
Lake Wendouree
Walk around the 6km lake, stop off along the way for a look through the beautiful botanical gardens and you can always grab a coffee or something to eat on your lap of the lake.
Farmers Markets
Lake Wendoree Farmers Market is on the 2nd Saturday every month. There are other wonderful farmers markets all within 30mins drive of Buninyong.
